Fires Update

Where do I start?? It's been a very stressful few days, and I'm not even there!!

I received an sms an hour or so ago, saying my house appears to have no visible signs of fire damage. The fire was within 200m of the front of the house, and closer behind. This news, combined with a recent updates from X and Terri is the best thing I've heard in a long time.

X has been battling the firefront since Thursday, and finally got some sleep this morning. She says that whilst the danger is reduced, there are major ongoing issues with embers and spotting and the journey isn't over yet. She is exhausted, but I suspect her dreams won't be pleasant while she snoozes this afternoon, before she gets up and keeps going.

As for Boolarra, the immediate danger from the firefront has gone, but as with X's situation, embers and spotting are major dangers. Looking at the most recent fire map the fire along my road has grown since the map issued at midnight last night, and looks like it will cross the road at some point. It's about a 1km down the road from my house.

And when it comes to thanking people, where do you start?? For me, my friends have remained true and solid; the CFA, emergency services, support people looking after the those guys working to keep the fires contained and away from property, the list is endless. And thank you just doesn't convey the appreciation for the work these people do.

Thanks goodness all is okay. Now when they catch the idiot/s who started it, let them have their house/belongings burnt and see if the they want to light another fire. Fines and jail are to easy for them.
